Shelving Shop Group/ Novalok has an excellent opportunity for a technically skilled and creatively minded Draftsperson/CAD Operator to join their team!

This role is ideal for someone with proven CAD experience, but we’re also open to training the right candidate with only a small amount of CAD experience, who shows potential and a willingness to learn.

While our Head Office is based in Hawke’s Bay, this role will work alongside our two primary CAD specialists, who are based in Wanganui. You’ll be expected to collaborate with them both face-to-face and online to support your learning. In addition, some travel between the two offices will be required during the onboarding period, with all associated expenses covered.

Key Responsibilities:

You’ll be responsible for producing high-quality technical drawings and some 3D models that support our construction and engineering projects. Your key responsibilities will include:

• Creating detailed technical drawings using SketchUp Pro with LayOut

• Developing 3D models and visualisations for project presentations and planning
• Interpreting architectural and engineering sketches, specifications, and notes
• Owning the design process and ensure accurate component drawing
• Providing technical insights ensuring drawings comply with relevant building codes and standards
• Maintaining drawing databases and version control
• Collaborating with engineers, project managers, and site teams to bring concepts to life
• Supporting training and development to enhance design capability

About You:

• Experience in CAD 3D modelling, ideally using SketchUp Pro, with rendering via V-Ray and/or Enscape, and documentation in LayOut
• Prior experience in engineering or drafting is beneficial but not essential, we’re open to developing the right candidate
• Proficiency in Excel and strong digital file management
• Builds trust and influence through clear communication and strong relationships across all levels
• Brings energy and initiative, with a practical mindset and a knack for turning ideas into action
• Able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
• Skills in project management, quantity surveying, or product development will be highly regarded
• A portfolio of work showcasing drawing and modelling capabilities will also be part of the recruitment process.
