Baker Tilly Staples Rodway, one of New Zealand’s largest independent business advisory firms, is seeking a Business Advisory Services Manager to join our Auckland office and be part of our dedicated Japanese Team (Team Japan).

About the Role

As a Manager in Team Japan, you will be at the heart of our firm's relationship with a portfolio of valued Japanese clients. This is a unique opportunity to leverage your linguistic and cultural expertise to provide crucial strategic and business advisory services. Your role is not just about the numbers; it’s about understanding the unique business protocols and operational needs of our clients to shape their success in the New Zealand market.

In this role, you will:

• Deliver high-calibre business advisory services, using your deep understanding of the Japanese business landscape.
• Engage in vital business development initiatives, identifying opportunities to expand our service offerings and build long-lasting relationships.
• Act as a key liaison for important briefs and presentations for organisations.
• Ensure the highest standards of accuracy and attention to detail in all client deliverables.
• Lead motivated team members, guiding them to deliver exceptional service and grow their own capabilities.

Skills and Experience Needed

To be successful in this role, you will have a demonstrated track record that includes:

• Fluency in Japanese (written and spoken), as you will be dealing almost exclusively with Japanese clients.

• A Chartered Accountant or CPA qualification (or working towards this) and degree in an Accounting or related discipline

• A strong foundation of business advisory experience, ideally gained within a professional services environment.
• A minimum of three years’ experience in a corporate or professional environment in Japan is highly valued, providing you with a deeper understanding of cultural protocols and business etiquette.
• A naturally affable and professional personality with a proven ability to lead and develop a team.
• A strong aptitude for business development and the ability to proactively seek out new opportunities.
