Taitara Mahi – Stormwater Manager/Asset Manager
Permanent, full-time
Hastings District Council, is seeking a new Stormwater Manager to join their exceptional Three Waters team. With the current manager heading abroad, this is a fantastic opportunity for a dynamic and strategic professional to step into a leadership role that directly contributes to the wellbeing of the community and the environment.

Mō te tūranga - about the role
As Stormwater Manager, you will lead the management and maintenance of Hastings District Council’s stormwater infrastructure including pipes, streams, drains, and detention dams. You’ll also drive the long-term strategic direction of the network, addressing key challenges such as climate change, water quality, growth, and cyclone recovery.
Step into a leadership role where your expertise in stormwater meets purpose - protecting te taiao, supporting community resilience, and shaping the future of Heretaunga’s waterways.
Ōu wheako – about you
To be successful in this role you will have:
- A recognised industry qualification (BE Civil, Asset Management Diploma, NZCE or equivalent), or be working towards one
- Experience in managing infrastructure networks and assets
- Strong understanding of environmental engineering, urban drainage, and relevant legislation (e.g. RMA, Local Government Act)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders including iwi, Councillors, ratepayers, service providers and suppliers.
- Proven strategic leadership, innovation, and a commitment to continuous improvement
