Health, Safety and Wellbeing Manager
Our client is a large organisation, currently looking for a talented Health, Safety and Wellbeing Manager (“HSW Manager”) to join the team. About the Role
The HSW Manager is a pivotal senior leadership role, which provides support and leadership across health, safety and wellbeing for a multi-faceted organisation.
The role is instrumental in the development and implementation of effective health, safety and wellness practices across the organisation. The HSW Manager plays a leading role in driving our client’s commitment to providing and maintaining a safe and healthy working environment for all those involved with its activities including workers, contractors, suppliers, and all other persons working in or visiting its places of work.
We’re looking for a people focused, self-starter with a can-do attitude and an appetite for change, who is comfortable working with senior management, the people on the ground and isn’t afraid to roll up their sleeves and do whatever mahi is required.
The HSW Manager will have a wide range of tasks and responsibilities, including but not limited to –
- Design, implementation and delivery of the HSW Strategic Plan;
- Provide HSW advice and support across the organisation consistent with H&S Policy and relevant standards and regulations.
- Identify, assess, and manage H&S hazards and risk and the preparation of controls that eliminate or minimise those risks;
- Lead incident investigations into notifiable events and support managers, and lead their team in undertaking incident investigations.
- Build and develop effective relationships with key senior managers, managers, staff, suppliers and contractors.
- Contribute to developing and continually improving best practice HSW systems that ensure compliance with legislation and ACC requirements.
About You
The successful candidate will be proactive, solution focused, resilient and strive to be a HSW leader in our sector. Important to this role:
- Relevant Tertiary Qualifications / Training in H&S, including proven knowledge of New Zealand H&S legislation and regulation
- Proven experience in leading high performing HSW teams
- Significant experience in developing and implementing health, safety and wellbeing policy and procedure.
- Good understanding and knowledge of H&S principles – especially in the area of risk management.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and a safety-first culture
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
