Consents and Policy Analyst (Kaitāri Kaupapa Here)
Maungaharuru-Tangitū Trust (MTT) represents a collective of hapū located in Hawke’s Bay. It is a Post Settlement Governance Entity tasked with helping the hapū to realise their aspirations for themselves and the taiao.
About the Role:
The key purpose of this position is to provide advice and guide the participation of MTT in:
- consent processes (under the Resource Management Act (RMA) 1991, Biosecurity Act 1993, Conservation Act 1987 or other acts relating to the management of natural resources). This work requires assessing applications received against hapū values and may require producing cultural effects assessments; and
- environmental policy and planning processes, including from local, regional and central authorities.
The position will contribute to environmental policy and planning processes for MTT and assist in the achievement of specific outcomes in the Strategic and Annual Plans of MTT.
About you:
You could come from a policy, legal or planning background, or have experience working with resource management and Treaty of Waitangi policy in different roles within central and local government or another Kaupapa Māori organisation. In addition to being a great team player and passionate about making a difference for our hapῡ, you will have a -
- Well developed knowledge of resource management legislation and processes
- Strong understanding of local and central government polices in relation to the Treaty of Waitangi, treaty settlement redress, land use, the management of natural resources and environmental management
- Proven ability to produce high quality reports through thorough research and engagement with key internal and external stakeholders
- Knowledge of tikanga and developing knowledge of Te Reo with a commitment to the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi
- Respect for mātauranga Māori and a willingness to promote the vision and values of the hapū in resource management practice
