Do you have a genuine interest in working in horticulture and looking for your next challenge? An exciting opportunity has become available for a motivated and hardworking individual to join the Genesis Nurseries Hawke’s Bay team as a Spray Operator/ Machine Operator.

The role:

In your new role you will be operating specialised spray equipment, machinery and tractors as well as undertaking some general horticultural tasks in order to grow and maintain fruit trees for our customers. Some of these tasks include: 

• Driving and operating specialised machinery and tractors

• Weed and crop spraying
• Maintaining spray records
• Working with our Production Manager and Operations Supervisor to meet spraying requirements and tracking of Certified Handler chemicals
• General nursery duties and horticultural tasks

Usual hours of work involve 5 days a week (these can vary in season and up to 6 days in peak season) 7am- 4:30pm (minimum 30 hours per week)

About You:

• Knowledge in safe use of chemicals and legal requirements for workplace compliance
• Specialised experience in tractor operation with and without GPS
• Forklift and power tool operation experience
• Growsafe certified
• Certified Handler Compliance Certificate
• OSH Forklift Operator
