Nursery Supervisor - Hawkes Bay

Genesis Nurseries is one of the country’s leading fruit tree growers, with over 30 years’ experience growing stone and pip fruit trees from our open ground nursery bases near Cambridge in the Waikato.
This is a full-time permanent position based in Hawkes Bay.
Reporting to our Lead Supervisor this position will work alongside our existing Nursery Supervisors with responsibility for a variety of tasks including some of the following:
- Coordinating and supervising daily activities to ensure tasks are completed on time and to a high standard.
- Managing the performance of field workers to ensure work is completed to agreed specifications.
- Oversee quality control processes including tree counts, grading, and identifying pests/diseases.
- Maintaining a safe working environment and implementing H&S procedures across all activities.
- Working alongside the other permanent employees in the areas of despatch and planting.
- Tractor, forklift, and machinery operating skills are required.
- Keeping up to date with new practices, technology, and nursery techniques.
You will have:
- Minimum six months experience working in production horticulture.
- Horticulture qualifications or the desire to study towards them.
- Proven leadership ability and experience managing teams.
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to relate to a wide range of people.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Good time management skills, ability to plan and co-ordinate seasonal work.
A heads up - as our trees are typically small, the role will require a good deal of bending!
Remuneration commensurate with experience ($28 - $32.00 per hour)
Usual hours of work Monday – Friday 7am – 4:30pm (minimum 30 hours per week)
